California Fun Runs

It’s not hard to understand why California tops the nation’s list of healthiest places to live. With the beautiful weather and incredible views of both mountains and the ocean, it’s no wonder that many choose to do their workouts outdoors.

Below is a list of California’s Fun Runs. Pick one or two and experience some of what California has to offer!

Disneyland Superheroes Weekend

Runners Assemble! Disneyland’s Superheroes Half Marathon Weekend promises thrills, excitement, and plenty of Disney magic, with Disney characters and entertainment throughout the course. The 13.1 miles weaves through the Disneyland Resort and the historical streets surrounding the Resort area.

If a half-marathon isn’t quite your speed, consider participating in the Thor 10K. This race follows some of the same roads as the half-marathon but stays entirely within Disneyland Resort’s boundaries. What would a Disney experience be without Thor himself cheering you on?

If a half-marathon isn’t quite enough for your running appetite, check out the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge! This insane course doesn’t disappoint. This race combines both the half-marathon and the Thor 10K into one crazy weekend.

You can also check out the Spiderman 5K, runDisney Kids race, and many of the activities going on during this weekend of Disney fun!

Bay to Breakers

For the past 105 years, San Francisco has hosted the Bay to Breakers 12K race. This historic course begins at the San Francisco Bay, works its way through nine distinctive neighborhoods, and ends at the Great Highway, where the waves crash into the breakers. The San Francisco Chronicle dubbed the race “a direct route to the city’s heart and soul.” Since its inception, over 2 million costumed runners have completed the course. Now that’s an impressive stat.

Avenue of the Giants

If running through a peaceful forest of giant redwoods is more up your alley, consider doing the Avenue of the Giants. This race is made possible by an independent green organization and one of the few marathons left without corporate sponsors. They also have a no headphones policy, so you’ll be enjoying the sounds of nature while you trek. Avenue of the Giants is a Boston Marathon qualifier and sounds like the perfect way to make your way through some fantastic forests.

The Dipsea Race

If trail running is more your style, consider the Dipsea Race. Begun in 1905, this is the oldest trail run in the United States. The stairs and steep trails make it a grueling run, but the scenic 7.4- mile course is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world and is limited to 1,500
